Short film promotional campaign

Duplicata is a visual communication project completed as part of my design studies.

The assignment was to select an existing short film and develop a promotional campaign inspired by its narrative and visual world.

I chose Duplicata, a film that begins in an ordinary office environment before gradually turning into an increasingly absurd and uncontrollable situation.

A story of duplication

The film follows a man starting a new office job. His work involves repetitive tasks, including stamping documents and photocopying stacks of paper.

While in the photocopy room, he accidentally drops an object onto the floor. To his surprise, the object duplicates itself.

This discovery leads him to experiment further, gradually losing control of what he has set in motion.

What initially seems like a harmless phenomenon takes on increasingly serious proportions, with consequences extending far beyond the office.

Translating the film into images

For the campaign, I chose to explore ideas of repetition, multiplication and loss of control.

I designed several posters featuring objects, silhouettes and typographic compositions.

These variations echo the film’s central theme of duplication while creating different visual approaches within a shared graphic language.

The aim was to generate curiosity and suggest the unusual nature of the story without revealing its entire plot.

Adapting the campaign for social media

Alongside the posters, I developed a series of vertical story-format graphics.

A countdown running from four days before release to launch day introduces a sense of progression throughout the promotional campaign.

These formats carry the campaign’s graphic elements into a vertical, fast-paced viewing context.

Together, the posters and stories form a proposed communication campaign designed to build anticipation around the short film.

An exercise in film promotion

This project allowed me to explore how a narrative world can be translated into a visual language.

The challenge was not simply to design one poster, but to develop a group of visuals capable of communicating a consistent atmosphere across different formats.

Duplicata combines composition, typography and graphic adaptation in a project focused on promoting an audiovisual work.
